East Windsor Patch: Mercer County Insect Festival Coming Sept. 7

Seven demonstration gardens highlight the 11th annual Insect Festival sponsored by the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County on Sept. 7, 1-4 p.m. at the Mercer Educational Gardens, 431A Federal City Road, Hopewell Township. 

The demonstrations will include Annual, Butterfly, Cottage, Herb, Native Plant, Perennial and Weed ID. Master gardeners will also be on hand to assist residents with how to identify both pesky and beneficial insects. They will also offer lessons on how insect predators, such as bats and birds, can help control insect populations and reduce the use of chemical pesticides.Honeybee experts will also be on hand to explain the good that bees do for the environment.
