The Beach Haven Marlin & Tuna Club had their building destroyed by Sandy, but still managed to run their 44th White Marlin Invitational that was highlighted by the self-disqualification of what could have been a big money-leading tuna on the Jersey Hooker.

Only relatively small yellowfin tuna had been weighed in the tuna division by the 43 boats entered before Jersey Hooker pulled up to the scales with a 130.2-pound bigeye that they had already announced wasn't caught in accordance with the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) rules that applied to this contest— though the only infraction was the passing of a rod with a hooked fish to another angler.
