My Central Jersey: Anglers need to be flexible in August

New Jersey’s June was the wettest ever, July the hottest, now it’s August's turn.

If rivers flood, fish lakes and reservoirs; if day fishing’s too hot, fish after dark. Be flexible.

Like the anglers in the Knee Deep Club’s Lake Hopatcong Catfish Derby that starts Saturday at 6 p.m. and ends at noon Sunday. Cat fishers will be dunking stinky baits to lure big cats like the 20-pounder that won last year’s contest.
