My Central Jersey: Sales-tax pitch right call on open space

New Jersey needs a dedicated source of ongoing funding for open space preservation. That should be a given.

A bipartisan plan now working its way through the Legislature may accomplish exactly that. A bill approved by a Senate committee last week proposes asking voters to consider directing a fraction of the state’s sales tax revenues toward land acquisitions. A two-thirds approval by the Senate and Assembly would put the question on the November ballot.
