WNJ Exclusive: Protecting Overpeck's Bald Eagles

Don Torino, President of Bergen County Audubon Society and columnist for Wild New Jersey, recently wrote about a pair of Bald Eagles nesting on the banks of the Overpeck in Ridgefield Park that are being threatened by a new boating facility beginning operation directly across from the eagle's nest (click here to read his previous article).
Don explained, "Boats go directly under the nest on a daily basis without regard for a 660 foot buffer zone that should be enforced in order to ensure the eagles can raise their young undisturbed. A proposed development project planned within feet of the nest puts the future of any eagles nesting here ever again in serious doubt."
