Rumor has it that this Upland Sandpiper might make an appearance at our walk on April 1 – the free walk begins at 10 a.m. inside the Environment Center in DeKorte park, Lyndhurst. Whoever correctly IDs the most fake birds will win an NJMC pontoon-boat cruise for two this summer. If you look closely, you’ll see one of the Wilson’s Snipes that has been hanging around Harrier Meadow of late.
These three Tree Swallows are arguing over who has dibs on this nesting box in the Shorebird Pool at DeKorte Park.
Jim Wright writes, photographs, maintains a nature blog and does slide shows and walks for the N.J. Meadowlands Commission. "Focus on the Meadowlands" features some of his recent photos of the area's natural wonders.
