We had some really neat birds in or near DeKorte Park last week, including the American Bittern along the Marsh Discovery Trail.

A flock of Snow Buntings has been hanging out just outside the park, along Disposal Road (on the northern side, on the landfill’s gravel areas.

We have had Great Blues at DeKorte all winter, along with Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs and an occasional Great Egret and Killdeer.

Jim Wright writes, photographs, maintains a nature blog
and does slide shows and walks for the N.J. Meadowlands Commission. "Focus on the Meadowlands" features some of his recent photos of the area's natural wonders.
