New Jersey has the reputation of being more concrete than forest, meadow or mountain. We’re used to jokes about the car-clogged, stinky turnpike. Not the setting for bounteous wildlife.

But David Wheeler took a year to travel the state from top to bottom and found wildlife busting out all over the place. He chronicled his nature adventures in a recently published book, “Wild New Jersey.”
