Special Winter Solstice Family Celebration
Welcome the first day of winter at the Meadowlands Environment Center (MEC), with an evening family festival. The event will start with a discussion on the Winter Solstice’s significance for people in ancient times and be followed by several family activities.
Children will have the opportunity to create: Sticky rice bowls (in Asia the rice bowls are a symbol of the coming New Year and celebrate the Solstice), Yule logs (traditional Scandanavian representation of the Solstice), and Native American prayer sticks (Prayer sticks are created in the days leading up to the solstice)
$5, MEC members $4
2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst.
