Courier Post: Deer-car crashes in N.J. rising


Nadine Gravatt of Upper Freehold Township recently collided with a deer on Route 539 in Lacey, killing the deer and damaging her Ford SUV . A passerby stopped to offer help and the lights of his truck light up the scene.

When love is in the air for does and bucks, it’s time for drivers to beware.

Fall is when a deer’s instincts turn to mating, and that means a bigger chance that one of the big animals could become a hood ornament or worse. Even State Transportation Commissioner James Simpson said he’s had some near hits as he and other experts urged drivers to use caution while driving during the fall mating season.
