Asbury Park Press: Barnegat Bay personal watercraft riders could be restricted by conservation zones

Barnegat Bay personal watercraft riders could see their style crimped if new conservation zones are created in the bay's shallows and eelgrass beds. But for now, environmental workers would be happy just to see riders obey the existing speed limit.

For years, riders and other boat operators have been subject to a slow speed-no wake rule within 100 feet of the shoreline. But there’s widespread ignorance or misunderstanding of the law, says Al Wutkowski, who was out on the bay five days a week this summer running the Barnegat Bay Guardian program.
