DeKorte Park foliage is just about peaking – and nearby Disposal Road raptor action is heating up. Park hours are from 8 a.m. to dusk – might be worth a visit this weekend.

We saw this Red-tailed Hawk on a Carlstadt telephone pole, taking a break from hunting. We stayed in our car, and the hawk had no problem with our presence.
The Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon led a free guided walk and cleanup in Losen Slote Park in Little Ferry last week. All the recent wet weather made the park a bonanza for mushroom peeking. One of the many varieties we saw is pictured above.
