Gloucester County Times: Lighthouse Challenge gives opportunity to tour historic sites

From their history and symbolism to stories of ghosts and hauntings, climbing the narrow steps of a lighthouse brings on a special feeling.

“All lighthouses are intriguing,” said Judy Oshipp, president of a volunteer group that works closely with Pennsville Township’s Finn’s Point Lighthouse. “There’s something magical about them."

Next Saturday and Sunday, Finn’s Point and 10 other land-based lighthouses will be open for the public to enter, climb and admire during the 12th annual Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey.
