The Associated Press: Reward offered in case of Allenhurst whale shooting
Two branches of The Humane Society offered the reward today, a day after the Sept. 24 death of the whale became widely publicized. It washed up on a beach in Allenhurst and died shortly after police responded.

The 740-pound pilot whale that washed ashore in Allenhurst last month is shown in this file photo. A necropsy showed the whale had been shot and died from an infection in its jaw that prevented it from eating.

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever shot a whale at sea, leaving it to die slowly until it washed up on a New Jersey beach last month.
