CBS New York: Officials Urge Residents in New Jersey's 'Bear Country' to Secure Trash


A black bear caused a scare in East Brunswick, roaming neighborhoods and climbing a tree. It was tranquilized and captured by authorities.

If you live in bear country out in New Jersey, you might already know this is the time of year when bears like to fatten up for winter.

The problem this year is that a lot of bears are going hungry.

“One of the problems we’re having this year is that there seems to be a bit of a lack of some of the food they like out there, some of the acorns and nuts,” says Larry Ragonese of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
