NJ.com: SAVE Birdseed program comes to South Jersey

A local farmer is working with the NJ Audubon Society to produce green, sustainable birdseed and conserve grassland habitat.

The Audubon Society’s fourth annual SAVE (Support Agricultural Viability and the Environment) Birdseed Program has expanded this year. Nine N.J. farmers, including Buddy Shimp of Shimp Farms in Stow Creek Township, have combined to cultivate 260 acres of sunflowers across the state in 2011, up from 140 acres last year.
