Cheesequake State Park will be open to deer hunters for the furst time.

“Only bow hunting will be allowed,” said Larry Ragonese of the state Department of Environmental Protection. “Initially there was some discussion about other hunting, but it was decided to hold just bow hunting for this season.”

The purpose of the hunt is to control the overpopulation of deer in the park, officials said.
