WNJ Video: A Barnegat Bay boat tour...beware of jellyfish
by Jillian Weislo
Wild New Jersey Productions today airs episode 9 of its original video series: "A Barnegat Bay boat tour...beware of jellyfish".
With Labor Day weekend finally here, beachgoers and boaters officially have one more weekend to enjoy the Jersey Shore. However, one of New Jersey's most popular destinations has been far less enjoyable the past few summers thanks to an unwanted visitor...the jellyfish. Sea nettles are invading the Barnegat Bay in swarms over the past few years, and Wild New Jersey author David Wheeler and videographer Krysti Sabins took a boat tour out into the bay to meet these invaders first-hand.
Fortunately, they encountered plenty of other wildlife as well, including an abundance of ospreys flying the skies over Cattus Island and the bay beaches of Lavallette and Ocean Beach. Join them for a boat trip through this magnificent, but imperiled, waterway.
Produced by nature writer David Wheeler and videographer Krysti Sabins, the series will continue with a new video every Thursday at noon, and lasting throughout the summer. The videos focus on a wide range of ecological issues and destinations in the Garden State, running in bite-sized portions from 2 to 5 minutes long.
Stay tuned to WildNewJersey.tv next Thursday, September 1 at 12 noon (Eastern Standard Time) for the next video!
