Wild New Jersey reader Jo Ann Chavelle Flynn just sent in this photo of a whale beached on the South Amboy Waterfront near the boat launch adjacent to the jetty.

"The police were cordoning off the area where it was beached.  I quickly grabbed my camera to get a photo of it," said Flynn. "I've never seen anything like this before.  It must have washed up from the ferocious waves of Hurricane Irene."

This came just shortly after Hurricane Irene passed right over the Jersey Shore causing major flooding along the coast, where many residents have already evacuated.

Please stay tuned to Wild New Jersey for an update on this breaking news story.
