Saw this Osprey eating lunch on a pole last Thursday by a marsh in Carlstadt, not far from its nesting site the past two summers — the first successful Osprey nest in Bergen County in decades.
Saw this Osprey just after it caught its lunch at DeKorte Park’s Shorebird Pool last Friday, where the water levels were just lowered. Lots of shorebirds coming in.
Heard reports of a Seaside Sparrow in a Secaucus marsh. When I went to photograph it recently, I came up with this Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow instead. Like the Osprey, it is one of seven birds on the state’s list of special concern that nest in the Meadowlands.
