WNJ Exclusive: WildNewJersey.tv celebrates 150,000 viewers!

by Jillian Weislo
On behalf of WildNewJersey.tv, I am thrilled to announce that the wildlife and nature community in New Jersey has showed our strength with 150,000 viewers for our blog! Those tired old stereotypes about New Jersey - the Garbage State, "which exit?", etc - are giving way to a restored reputation as the most biodiverse state in the nation.
Founded by nature author David Wheeler in 2008, WildNewJersey.tv strives to continue expanding and diversifying our content. So far in 2011, we have brought in fantastic contributors like Don Torino (Don's Jersey Birding), Thomas Gorman (Nature's Focus), Linda Gangi (Linda's for the Birds), and Jim Wright (Focus on the Meadowlands) to bring their unique perspectives to birdwatching, nature exploration, upcoming events, investigations, and profiles of some of the state's top places and citizen leaders. More recently, WildNewJersey.tv launched our first video series, with new episodes airing each Thursday at noon throughout the summer of 2011 (see below for links).
Yet the biggest boost has come from you, the reader! Thanks to your helpful comments and feedback, your incredible images submitted for our Photo of the Week series and our Nature Photo Contest, and your own stories, we are so much more able to bring the news and the views that we all can enjoy.
In the months to come, WildNewJersey.tv hopes to further develop our Facebook and Twitter networks, while launching new stories, new videos, and a 2nd annual Photo Contest. Stay tuned as well for the launch of an exclusive Pine Barrens series.
We are also considering potential ideas for holding public events in the fall and winter, and welcome your suggestions or recommendations. We also invite you to share your wildlife and nature experiences with us - it could be as little as a single compelling paragraph, or a vivid photograph.
Finally, WildNewJersey.tv is looking for enthusiastic volunteers and interns to join our team. We are looking for story and photo contributors; online researchers; technical contributors for managing the blog, and social media enthusiasts to help expand our network. All help would be appreciated - whether just a couple of hours each week from home or a more extensive involvement. Anyone interested should email us at wildnewjersey@edisonwetlands.org.
Thank you for your continued interest in making New Jersey a little wilder every day!
