MyCentral Jersey: Time to go fish for a good cause

It’s not too soon to register for the 20th Annual Governor’s Surf Fishing Tournament set for Sunday, Oct. 2, at Island Beach State Park.

This very popular family event draws hundreds of anglers every year and raises funds to support a number of worthwhile programs. They include the purchase of specialized wheelchairs that provide the disabled and the elderly with beach access, surf fishing instruction programs and equipment, marine education and restoration efforts and surf fishing access.
