Haven’t heard of the Fish Code? I don’t think you’re alone on this one. According to NJ Dept. of Fish and Game, the Fish Code is used by the state for the protection, propagation, introduction and conservation of freshwater fish and for their use and development for public recreation and food supply. It’s been in use for about century.


The state does biennial revisions of season dates, creel limits and other regulations based on scientific investigation and research to ensures the greatest likelihood of success in reaching the above goals.
