Asbury Park Press: Study looks at terrapin mortality within the Barnegat Bay

Learning the population, breeding habits and abilities of turtles indigenous to the Barnegat Bay are among the studies of an ongoing 20-year study that has brought both seasoned researchers and those simply curious to the Lighthouse Environmental Resource Center based in Ocean Township.

Drexel University Professor Hal Avery heads the program which has blended science, conservation and technology for the study which is in its sixth year. Avery said that 14 undergraduate students and two students are earning their PhD doing field work for the project this summer.
