For the third consecutive year, barn swallows have successfully nested in the eaves of the pony barn at the Triple C Ranch in Edison right under a "Home Sweet Home" sign. Three chicks were confirmed in the nest early this morning.
The 40-acre Triple C Ranch is one of the last remaining farms in the highly urbanized Middlesex County and is located in the heart of the Dismal Swamp Conservation Area, which contains 1,240 acres of environmentally sensitive wetlands, upland forest and meadows.
