It's bad news, bears. Two black bears appeared Monday in the eastern part of New Jersey, where they were a rare and unwelcome sight. They learned it's tough going for the adventurous.
One spent most of the day about 75 feet up a tree in Metuchen, and was still there late Monday night — after lowering himself down to the ground and disappearing into the darkness — with curious residents watching from below. Another bear stayed on the ground in Union Township, and was killed by police when it wandered too close to schools.
