'Tis the season — for bear sightings, at least in South Brunswick.

After a long winter’s hibernation, one bear is believed to be frequenting South Brunswick locales and police are advising residents to be vigilant.

The South Brunswick police are reporting three bear sightings, the most recent of which occurred Monday on Ridge Road near Perrine Road at 7:45 p.m. The department believes all three sightings are the same bear scouring the area’s garbage cans for food, according to a department press release.
