NJ.com: Feds cut off funding to NJ artificial reefs

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has cut off funding for the state's artificial reefs because of the commercial gear conflict on reefs built and maintained with federal sportfishing funds plus contributions by anglers and divers. The cut-off results from New Jersey's failure to get commercial gear off the reefs though the Senate has overwhelmingly approved legislation to do so. However, Assemblyman Nelson Albano (D-Cape May) has effectively stopped passage by refusing to hear the Pots off the Reef bill in his Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
