WNJ Exclusive: Jersey Shore Cast loves Wild New Jersey book!

by Henry David Thoreau, Jr.

The cast of Jersey Shore - all noted enthusiasts of nature, wildlife, and outdoor activities - today joined forces to show their love for the brand new book, Wild New Jersey: Nature Adventures in the Garden State!  Avid readers and literary devotees, the cast members each bring their own unique insight into the nature of New Jersey.

Snooki, one of the state's top birdwatchers, once won the New Jersey Audubon Society's World Series of Birding (and notched the first-ever New Jersey sighting of an immature female Heerman's gull).  The Situation is an avid herpetologist, especially fond of salamanders for their sturdy abdominal muscles.  Pauly D enjoys catching butterflies and moths, and has a museum-quality display in his library.  JWWOW has spent years placing remote cameras in the New Jersey Highlands region, landing the state's first ever confirmed mountain lion image.  Ronnie is devoted to the restoration of shad in the state's waterways and public access to New Jersey beaches.  And finally, Vinny, Sammi, and Deena constantly practice GTL - gym, tanning, and learning how to make proper bird calls underwater.

The cast members have planned a day in Sandy Hook later this summer to go seining and explore the native beach grasses of the dunes for rare birds and beetles.  In the meantime, each is kicking back in their study for leisurely nights of reading Wild New Jersey, sipping Gevalia coffee, and eating organic, free-ranging tofu, while John Coltrane plays soothingly in the background.

As for next steps for this cultural juggernaut?  One unconfirmed rumor is that the Jersey Shore producer has reached out to Wild New Jersey author David Wheeler to join the cast next year. Wheeler would neither confirm nor deny the rumor.
