Here's one way to tell spring is getting closer: Black bear sightings have resumed in northern New Jersey. The bruins are coming out of their dens in search of food.

The Record reports the Pompton Lakes Police Department has received at least 30 calls a day over the past month from residents reporting black bears in the northern part of the town. Similar sightings have also been reported along Route 287 and in the industrial and residential areas of Riverdale.
