WNJ Exclusive: Over 60 seals ashore in Sandy Hook

A WildNewJersey.tv reader submitted this photograph of seals basking in the sun along Sandy Hook, taken earlier this week. This winter has proven to be a bonanza for seals in New Jersey, with high numbers of seals spotted throughout the winter in Sandy Hook, Raritan Bay, and the Jersey coast. Four species of seals typically visit New Jersey waters during the winter - the harbor seal, harp seal, hooded seal, and gray seal.
