The New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team (NJISST) will be giving a presentation about invasive species at the Essex County Environmental Center on Wednesday, March 16th from 7 pm to 8 pm.
NJISST is a statewide cooperative effort with a mission to prevent the spread of emerging invasive species across the state of New Jersey. Started in 2008 as the Central Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team, the project has now expanded statewide and consists of over 60 public and private partners. The Strike Team utilizes the method of “Early Detection & Rapid Response” to combat the onslaught of newly emerging invasive species before they can cause significant ecological damage to our forests.
Join NJISST for an informational session on March 16 to learn more about NJISST’s efforts in Essex County and how you can participate in the 2011 funding. For more information or to RSVP: Contact Melissa Almendinger, melissa@njisst.org or Tara Casella, tcasella@parks.essexcountynj.org
