Your Wild New Jersey: Seal celebrates New Year's Eve in Bradley Beach

On New Years Eve my family was in town from Cleveland and asked if they could see the ocean.  I decided to drive them along Bradley Beach for a scenic view when my mother spotted two snowmen along the beach.  She asked if we could stop the car and get out so she could snap a picture of the beach-going snowmen.  While my mother was snapping pictures of the wintry tourists I spotted something bobbing in and out of the water about thirty feet out.

At first glimpse it looked like a little Lochness monster based on the angle of the head and neck.  However, when it got closer I realized it was a little seal.  Now I've only lived in New Jersey for a couple months so it was quite the surprise to see the seal out in the wild, especially in New Jersey.  Our seal siting definitely made for a wonderful New Years Eve and was all my family could talk about that night.

Wild New Jersey invites you to share your wildlife and nature experiences with us - it could be as little as a single compelling paragraph, or a vivid photograph.  Share "Your Wild NJ" with other viewers from across the state and beyond!
