Prehistoric Atlantic sturgeon, famed in the Hudson River, considered for endangered status

The Atlantic sturgeon - an ancient 8-foot long fish that can weigh up to 200 pounds and live over 50 years - is being considered for endangered status in the New York - New Jersey Bight, among other locations along the Atlantic coast.  The public comment period has been extended until February 3, 2011.
