EnviroGuy: La Nina may temper New Jersey’s winter

With winter looming, I asked state climatologist David A. Robinson what he expects for Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Since La Nina is under way, “it’s just difficult to have a full-blown coastal snow storm in such a winter,” Robinson said in an e-mail late Monday night.

“The storm track is often to our west, putting us on the mild side of storms,” he said. “They might start as frozen (precipitation) but will eventually turn over to rain. By the time cold air comes in behind the storm most of the moisture has departed.”
