Asbury Park Press: Only nature can make changes on LBI's Holgate Peninsula

Business owner Bill Hutson looked over the crashing surf at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge Holgate Unit, concerned about what the future holds for the pristine barrier beaches.

Three different spots on the refuge, one about a half-mile from the parking lot of the refuge and the other two are approximately two miles away, near the nesting area for the piping plovers, run the risk of having the bay and ocean meet, Hutson said.
