The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge will be closed from Nov. 3-6 for a deer hunt. The refuge will be open only to those who possess Great Swamp special deer hunting permits issued by the Refuge and the state Division of Fish and Wildlife.
This will be the 37th year the refuge has held a regulated deer hunt, the purpose of which is to maintain a balanced deer population while also providing recreational opportunities compatible with the refuge's purpose, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service.
