Press of Atlantic City: Cape May back bay cruises move to salt marsh

When Capt. Ginny Powell acquired Skimmer wildlife boat cruises out of Cape May Harbor in 2008, it was already well-established. Previous owners Bob and Linda Carlough had, over 14 years, developed the cruises into a rich ecological experience on the backbay and formed relationships with the leading local environmental organizations.

"We pretty much follow what Capt. Bob did for all those years," Powell said. "We have a flat tray in which we carry local marine life, we use the same scoop net he did."

But Powell made one very significant change: She moved the Skimmer, a 40-foot pontoon boat with a full canopy and room for 23 passengers, to a dock on the far side of the harbor.
