This highly touted narrative tour of destinations from Cape May to the Delaware Water Gap, encountering wildlife from bobcats to bottlenose dolphins, has brought acclaim from a range of conservation leaders across the state.
Jeff Tittel of the New Jersey Sierra Club states, "This book captures why we must preserve what’s left of nature in New Jersey – and it reads like a page-turner you can't put down."
"Wild New Jersey brings the reader on a real-life safari through the Garden State's wildlife and natural wonders," says Tom Gilmore of the New Jersey Audubon Society.
Renowned Rutgers biologist Joanna Burger - who has written critically acclaimed books like "A Naturalist Along the Jersey Shore" - notes that Wild New Jersey is "full of exciting tales about New Jersey, from the crowded urban areas to the most remote places of the state."
Another coastal New Jersey advocate, Greg Remaud of NY/NJ Baykeeper, praises this "entertaining overview of the diversity of wildlife in New Jersey that challenges the notion that our state is merely a crowded, overdeveloped stretch of toxic sites.... It's not often we can refer to a book about nature as a 'page turner.' "
And Captain Bill Sheehan, the longtime Hackensack Riverkeeper who nearly singlehandedly transformed the Meadowlands region from a forbidding wasteland into an popular ecotourism destination noted for its biological diversity, notes that “Wild New Jersey proves that in many places and in so many ways, New Jersey is still the ‘Garden State’. And the Wetlands State, the Woodlands State, the Beach State and more. Once you read this book, don’t be surprised if you find yourself going straight to the nearest outdoor adventure, whether it be boating and birding the Meadowlands, hiking the Appalachian Trail or exploring the Pinelands."
