Beach Sweeps is right around the corner—have you saved the date? Clean Ocean Action is celebrating it's 25th year of Beach Sweeps and is one of the longest running cleanups in the world.  The cleanup first started in 1985 with 75 volunteers. Today, this bi-annual event includes beach, river, lake, and stream cleanups.

Data collected during the sweeps is compiled to create a legacy of information that we use to inform the community and inform public policy. Since 1985, over 70,000 volunteers have participated and removed over 3.5 million pieces of debris from New Jersey's beaches and waterways. Will you be one of them on October 23rd?

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. To participate, select a beach from the list of over 65 Beach Sweep Sites. Groups of 10 or more are asked to pre-register by completing the online form. It's that simple!  On the Saturday, October 23rd, arrive at your chosen site and register with the "Beach Captain," who will provide you with direction and supplies for the day.
