New Jersey's Fish and Wildlife Division has started releasing 21,000 brook, brown and rainbow trout into more than 30 streams, ponds and lakes throughout the state.

Chief of information and education Jim Sciascia tells The Daily Record of Parsippany the fall stocking is a bit later than usual. Sciascia says that's because water levels were lower than usual and water temperatures were too warm. Fees from 190,000 fishing licenses and 90,000 trout stamps fund the project, which happens for eight weeks in the spring, and once in the fall.
