Shore11: Watching whales in the North Atlantic

It seems weird to think or say it. Yet, here it goes anyway. At one point and time, there were hundreds of whales in New York Harbor and Sandy Hook Bay; and right along the Jersey Shore.
It is hard to imagine our coastline being anything different than what it is right now. A largely sprawling landscape with poor development practices of townhouses, parking lots, beach clubs, and marinas jam-packed together block by block. How could giant whales navigated through a maze of toxic waste, construction rubble, old pilings, and massive tanker ships?
