Ready to kick off the autumn season with an outdoor afternoon filled with farm foods, live music, and classic fall activities like hay rides and corn mazes? Then join Schiff Natural Lands Trust at the Third Annual Farm Festival this Sunday at Middle Valley Farms in Mendham.
"Join us as we come together to celebrate farms, local food and build a strong sense of community in our little corner of the Garden State," says Tanya Sulikowski, Schiff's Executive Director. "Enthusiastic community participation in Schiff’s events tells us that our work in conservation and education are critically important to friends and supporters."
The event offers a corn maze, hay ride, pumpkin slingshot, live music, and local food. Live presentations include Chef James Laird of Restaurant Serenade in Chatham detailing "Gardening from a Chef's Perspective", journalist Warren Bobrow presenting "Food Journalism and Social Networking", "Community Supported Agriculture" by Kristin Bowlin and Kyle LaFerriere of Totten Family Farm, and "Canning and Preserving" by Sharon Allen of Sharon's Jams, Preserves, and Relishes.

The music - blues, soul and rock n' roll - is provided by Tom Rice and Friends. Proceeds from the Farm Festival benefit Schiff Natural Lands Trust and other charities supported by the Mendham Junior Women's Club.
Tickets can be purchased online at: http://www.schiffnaturepreserve.org/farmfest2010.htm.
The Schiff Natural Lands Trust manages Schiff Nature Preserve, a 423-acre preserved tract in Mendham Township and Mendham Borough in Morris County, New Jersey. Schiff owns additional land throughout the area and holds about 50 acres in conservation easements totaling over 640 acres. More information can be found at http://www.schiffnaturepreserve.org.
