New Jersey grassroots environmental groups will hold a protest rally on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 1 PM to call for a national boycott of all BP gas stations until the ongoing oil spill disaster in the Gulf Shore region is contained, cleaned up, and the restoration of destroyed marshlands is underway.
Representatives from Edison Wetlands Association (EWA) will be joined by Clean Ocean Action, NY-NJ Baykeeper, and other organizations.
The oil well is now pouring out an estimated 210,000 gallons of oil each day, according to most recent estimates, with no end in sight. The oil slicks have already entered the fragile marshlands of Louisiana’s Gulf Coast, and uncertain currents could impact the Gulf Shore from Texas’s coastline to the Florida Keys’ coral reefs.
