Plumsted Township will once again be hosting The Kenneth H. Francis Memorial Kayak & Canoe Race/Tour on Saturday, May 1st, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  In addition to this year's water activities there will also be live music and hopefully a "Cookout" at Oakford Lake and the nearby gazebo.

All ages can enjoy recreational kayaking and canoeing.  Join Jim Shields, a distinguished Outdoorsman, for a really laid back tour up to the pristine waters of Oakford Lake.  It is prime birdwatching season along the creek.  One can see bald eagles foraging and stalking black crowned night herons on the creek.  Or if you or the group are more adventurous you can do the 9 mile race course down river which all contestants finished in less than 3 hours last year.
