The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife spring trout stocking program is in full swing. Around 190,000 trout averaging 11 inches in length will be fair game for anglers by opening day on April 10. In addition to those fish, more than 6,000 two to five pound fish have also been stocked during the pre-season. By the time the stocking programs ends at the end of May, nearly 600,000 brook, brown and rainbow trout will have been trucked from the Pequest Hatchery in Warren County and placed into 89 streams and 90 lakes and ponds throughout the state that have been designated trout water.
