A group opposed to killing bears says it is suing the New Jersey Fish and Game Council, two days after the council voted to authorize the state's first black bear hunt in five years. The Bear Education and Resource Group claims the council violated the Open Public Meeting Act, which requires the council to allow members of the public to attend its meetings. In a statement Thursday, BEAR alleges members of the council participated in a private meeting of the game committee, which decides on the bear hunt policy.
