Join staff and Associate Naturalists with New Jersey Audubon's Sandy Hook Bird Observatory for early spring birding at Wallkill River NWR, Barnegat Light, and Salem County. Leaders are hand-picked for their local expertise, birding & interpretive skills, and their willingness to share that knowledge with you.

Saturday March 13: Begin birding at "the crack of noon" at Barnegat Inlet for Harlequin Ducks, scoters, and eiders, then head to the mainland for late afternoon raptor watching at Cedar Run Dock Rd.  Led by Sanctuary Director Pete Bacinski, who has been birding Barnegat Light and New Jersey for 35 years.
Saturday March 20: Salem County environs for migrating waterfowl (especially Snow Geese and dabblers), raptors, early shorebirds, and more.  Led by Associate Naturalist Lloyd Shaw, who spends much of his free time exploring the lesser-known birding gems in the southwest corner of New Jersey.
Sunday March 21: Wallkill River NWR for another excursion around the refuge's varied habitats in search of early migrants, waterfowl, and birds of prey with Associate Naturalist Ken Witkowski.
