OLD BRIDGE — A young harp seal crawled out of a tributary of the Raritan Bay on Monday and was found laying against a fence a short distance from a busy roadway. It was just sitting there and looked quite happy and comfortable," said Bill Schultz, who rescued the animal and brought it back to the bay. About 4:20 p.m., the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine got a call from someone who saw the seal against a chain link fence on the Runyon Watershed, off Route 516 in Old Bridge, said Robert Schoelkopf, founder of the stranding center.
