Find out more about the Atlantic Garbage Patch at the Beach Sweeps 25! Symposium. For more than 20 years, scientists from SEA (Sea Education Association) have been carefully researching the amount of plastic marine debris in the North Atlantic and Caribbean Sea. Plastic is a major contaminant in the ocean, yet the most basic questions about its sources, abundance, distribution, and fate in the open ocean remain largely unanswered. Meet Dr. Giora Proskurowski, Oceanography Faculty Scientist and Skye Moret-Ferguson, Senior Assistant Scientist as they present their research and answer questions. The Symposium will be held on Saturday, March 13th from 9am to 3:30pm at the Student Life Center, Brookdale Community College. Prices are: $10 adults, $5 students, $25 at-the-door. Breakfast, lunch, and light snacks included.
